Itinerary details

The Perito Moreno Glacier is an imposing work of nature that gives us the chance to experience it head-on and feel its full energy. Discovering it will amaze you; enjoy it on a full day filled with adventure and excitement.

We begin our experience at the imposing Perito Moreno Glacier, a 80-km journey from El Calafate, on a completely paved road. This day trip will offer us some pleasant surprises. As soon as we leave the city, we can see Lake Argentino and its Redonda Bay to the right.

Here you can see a significant variety of birdlife, including the black-necked swan, flamingo, steamer duck, coot, and cauquén. The yellow color of the countryside is notable due to its grasses called coirón, among which the white and short-toed coirón stand out.

The first 40 km covers the Patagonian steppe, then passing to the entrance of the National Park to observe the tree vegetation belonging mostly to the "Nothofagus" family (ñires, guindos, lengas) and the occasional cinnamon tree, and flowers of various colors, among which the notro stands out for its intense red color corresponding to the Patagonian Andean Forest.

Arrival at "The Curve of Sighs," so named because it's the first point from which we have a panoramic view of the Perito Moreno Glacier. We make a brief stop for photographs and continue to Puerto Bajo las Sombras.

Here, there's an optional boat trip to enjoy different views of the Perito Moreno Glacier wall. The trip lasts a total of one hour.

Back at the port, we head to the footbridges, where there's a visitor services area and a system of balconies and walkways that allow for walks along different routes and access to truly incredible views of the glacier and its surroundings.

After some free time for hiking and lunch (optional), we begin the return trip to El Calafate.
