THE EXPERIENCE

The Esmeralda Lagoon is a body of glacial origin, which collects the melt waters of the Albino Glacier. It is located at 450 meters above sea level, within an ancient lenga forest, and surrounded by mountains of sharp silhouette, some with hanging glaciers that can be admired by the visitor from a privileged position.

The name of the lagoon alludes to the incredible color of its waters. In winter, the activity is done walking through the snowy valleys with snowshoes, which requires a few minutes of adaptation and an explanatory talk.

Itinerary details

Partida desde el hotel en vehículo por vía terrestre (20 kms) hasta el sector de estacionamiento del sendero. Desde allí iniciamos la caminata durante la cual atravesamos túrbales, arroyos y centenarios bosques de Lengas y Coihues. La posibilidad de avistar zorros, cóndores y castores está siempre latente.

La Laguna Esmeralda se encuentra en el corazón de la Reserva Natural y Paisajística Tierra del Fuego, el color de sus aguas y su ubicación geográfica en plena cordillera fueguina nos invita a detenernos, descansar en sus orillas mientras disfrutamos de un rico y nutritivo snack, y el paisaje maravilloso.

Finalmente emprendemos el regreso al refugio por un camino diferente al de ida y posteriormente regresamos al hotel.
